She also urged clarity on the role of local nonprofits, saying volunteer groups should focus on fundraising and animal support rather than making hiring decisions for county positions.
HR/commission staff responded that human-resources and other county staff have been in communication with animal-control personnel and that the county is expediting recruitment for an executive dog warden. A staff speaker stated that interim coverage and first-round interviews were underway and that HR had provided contact information to staff.
Commissioners thanked commenters for the information and said they would check the contact list and coordinate with HR and the dog-warden office. The public-comment exchange concluded without formal action recorded during the meeting; commissioners moved to an executive session afterward.
