Seneca County board signs off on year‑end appropriations, lease extension and mortgage release

At its Dec. 23 meeting the Seneca County Board of Commissioners approved a number of year‑end financial and administrative items.
County fiscal staff presented supplemental appropriations and budget adjustments that the board approved by roll call. The package included general fund salary supplements for law enforcement ($24,180.76) and jail staff ($38,317.57), services for jail duct cleaning ($87,820), final life insurance premium payment for the Seneca County Employees Health Fund ($194), capital funds for museum HVAC work ($178,506), and a $294,902 reclassification returning ODC construction grant dollars to the community‑based corrections fund because the money was not needed this year. The board also approved a $69,802.65 budget adjustment to cover work on a wall in front of the Justice Center generator.
The board authorized a one‑year lease extension between the Board of Commissioners and the Department of Job and Family Services at the same dollar amount to allow additional time to evaluate future use of the building.
The commissioners approved a transfer of $74,590 to the joint justice improvement and replacement fund to pay for the Justice Center wall project and also voted to sign a release of mortgage for Ottawa Residential Services Inc., indicating the related promissory note had been satisfied. Board members said the mortgage release paperwork would be prepared and routed to required parties.
The board accepted the resignation of Patrick Rogers as a full‑time paramedic captain for Seneca County EMS, effective Dec. 30, 2025. The board also withdrew a previously posted resignation item for a different paramedic after that employee opted to remain as intermittent staff.
All motions were approved by roll call; recorded yes votes consistent with the transcript were cast by the three commissioners present.
