Commissioners approve supplemental appropriations, set public hearing for Liberty Township roadway vacation

On Nov. 13 the Seneca County commissioners approved supplemental appropriations covering sheriff commissary, BJA grant services, probation payroll lines, pivot fund and ambulance equipment, and set Dec. 15 viewing and 6:30 p.m. hearing for a Liberty Township roadway vacation at Old Fort High School Auditorium.
The Seneca County Board of Commissioners approved several supplemental appropriations and set a viewing and public hearing date for a proposed roadway vacation in Liberty Township during its Nov. 13 meeting.
County staff described the supplemental appropriations package, which included: $17,373.67 to the sheriff’s commissary other expense line for an extended warranty for a justice-center scanner; $6,000 for BJA grant contract services to pay Orianna House for the remainder of the year; probation-services payroll additions (salaries $16,000, Medicare $232, OPERS $2,240) to carry staffing to year-end; pivot fund supplies $103.29 and contract services $303 for year-end needs; and $3,983.97 to ambulance service equipment (equipment and mannequins), a donation from the Village of Bettsville for EMS training equipment. A motion to approve the supplemental appropriations was made, seconded and passed by roll call.
Separately, the board approved a resolution setting the date, time and place for viewing and hearing on a proposed roadway vacation in Liberty Township: the viewing is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 15 at 9:00 a.m. at County Road 31 adjacent to Carmus Quarry, and the public hearing will be Monday, Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Old Fort High School Auditorium. County staff confirmed the dates and that appropriate notice and posting would follow.
The actions were routine fiscal and procedural items intended to close out year-end needs and to set the public process for the roadway vacation; commissioners did not tie the appropriations to changes in county policy during the meeting.
