Sarpy County recognizes retiring engineer Denny Wilson and appoints Zach Hergan Raider to succeed him

The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners recognized County Engineer Denny Wilson on Dec. 9 and voted to appoint Zach Hergan Raider to serve as county engineer effective Jan. 1, 2026 for the remainder of Wilson’s term.
During the meeting the board read a proclamation stating, “Sarpy County engineer Denny Wilson is retiring on 12/31/2025 after 15 years of service,” and highlighted work by the engineer’s office maintaining more than 1,600 lane miles and helping deliver the 9 Square Miles Connect project without a tax increase. Commissioners thanked Wilson for his public service during a period of rapid county growth and the chair offered personal remarks of appreciation.
County Administrator Bonnie Moore introduced the appointment resolution, noting the transition would be effective Jan. 1, 2026. The board moved to approve the appointment (motion by Burmeister; second by Warren) and the motion passed.
After the vote, the board invited Zach Hergan Raider to speak briefly and commissioners offered congratulations. The board concluded the item and proceeded to the rest of the agenda.
The appointment was approved during the Dec. 9 meeting; Wilson’s retirement date was listed as Dec. 31, 2025 and the appointee’s start date as Jan. 1, 2026.
