Clark said the 18-month project extended to nearly three years, that a final draft of the comprehensive plan exists, and that zoning regulations still require finishing edits before public hearings.
Clark recommended adopting the comprehensive plan and zoning regulations together to ensure the land-use map and zoning classifications align. Commissioners noted the draft contains many definitions and asked the consultant and staff to provide complete regulatory text; Clark said she would review the documents this week and set dates to meet with the planning commission and the planning committee chairpersons. She suggested town halls in January and public hearings in February or March, noting a short legislative 'shot clock' proposal could make timely adoption important.
Board members urged careful review of the land-use map to avoid past mapping errors and asked staff to coordinate consultant attendance at required public hearings. The board did not take formal action at this meeting but directed staff to schedule stakeholder meetings and circulate the full draft to commissioners and the planning commission before public hearings.
