Beaver County previews final budget with officials saying there will be no tax increase

Beaver County officials said the final 2026 county budget would be presented at the next meeting and that it would not raise property taxes.

The solicitor told commissioners that "there is no tax increase" and that "the tax millage will continue to be 3.76 mils." Later in the discussion, a county staff member identified as Corey said the proposed budget "had no tax increase, so 3.6 mills remains," and described forthcoming reclassifications and adjustments to grant reimbursements.

Corey said one of the larger adjustments concerns a VA grant reimbursement originally budgeted at a higher amount. "Originally, we had that in the budget at 1.9 ... we only got about 1000000 ... So we are going to reclassify that. That will be paid out of fund balance," Corey said.

Corey also presented totals for the budget and the general fund portion during the work session review. The solicitor earlier noted the budget package will be on the agenda as Resolution No. 5 when the board meets to consider the formal approvals.

No formal vote on the budget was taken during the work session. The solicitor said 36 resolutions are on the agenda for the next meeting, including the final budget; those resolutions will be considered at that meeting. The work session moved into an executive session on personnel and litigation and did not reconvene in open session.
