Elk County proclaims October 2025 National Disability Employment Awareness Month

The Elk County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 2 adopted a proclamation recognizing October 2025 as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Marcia Dipple, introduced as director of employment support services with Journey Health Dickinson / Dickinson Center's Employment Support Services, accepted the proclamation and described the organization's work helping people with disabilities obtain and maintain competitive employment. Dipple highlighted the personal and economic benefits of employment for people with disabilities and invited the public to a community observance on Oct. 21 at the agency's main office.

Dipple also noted program successes and staff recognition, including an employee award and a new illustrative "AI comic book" created to explain services to the public. The commissioners motioned and voted to adopt the proclamation, and a photo was taken after the vote.
