The Elk County Prison Board approved routine business items including the minutes of previous meetings and payment of bills, and unanimously approved the prison board meeting schedule for 2026.
S1 asked for a motion to approve minutes from Aug. 7 and a special Sept. 11 meeting; S3 moved, the motion was seconded, and the board voted 'aye.' The agenda and bills were likewise presented and approved by voice vote.
S2 reported a community donation coordinated through the Dickinson Center and a community foundation: John Schlem arranged several hundred dollars’ worth of children's books to create a small library so inmates can read to their children during in‑facility or video visits. The collection was installed the prior week but had not yet been widely used.
The board confirmed the next scheduled meeting date as Jan. 22, 2026, at 09:00 and adjourned the session.
