River Ridge Academy middle-schoolers form aerial drone team to learn coding and compete

Beaufort County Television featured River Ridge Academy's new aerial drone team, which gives middle-school students a chance to learn both coding and piloting as they prepare for competitions. The anchor said the program helps students combine programming with hands-on flight practice.

Students interviewed on the segment described practicing obstacle courses and skills events. One student said, "Flying in the air is a cool thing. You get the interactivity with the actual drone to where you can test all to see if this works." Another student described navigating hoops and learning from trial and error, saying the team uses two drones on the course at once and practices tasks such as knocking small ping-pong sized balls off pillars into target areas.
