At its second reading the Jasper County Council approved an ordinance authorizing a special source revenue credit agreement with Palmetto Plastics Innovations, described in staff materials as "Project Pilgrimage." Taylor Boynton, presenting the item, said the expansion would involve a $7,000,000 additional investment and create 10 additional jobs under the proposed incentive agreement.
Councilmembers asked for greater fiscal detail and for confirmation of Department of Revenue calculations; Boynton said the financial tables included with the attorney's materials were illustrative and that final figures would come from the Department of Revenue. Members also asked whether the project would impose infrastructure costs; Boynton said improvements of that nature had been addressed by the original developer.
After brief discussion, a councilmember moved to approve the second reading; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote.
