FCA representative asks Laurens County for grant help and volunteers for youth huddles

"We are in dire need of time, treasure, and prayer," she said, and described distributing "over 2,200" program resources, including sports Bibles and study materials. She also said about 27 young people, coaches and a coach’s spouse had come to know Christ over the past six months through FCA work in the county.
When a council member asked how FCA funding is raised, Lawson said she raises funds privately for the county ministry and that the group uses donated resources for Bibles, meals and program administration. A council member offered to provide a county nonprofit grant application and said the county’s nonprofit grant cycle typically opens in September; the speaker encouraged Lawson to submit an application so the county could "give you something back." Lawson thanked the council and said she would welcome one‑on‑one meetings to explore partnerships.
The council did not commit county funds on the record during this meeting; Lawson’s request at the public input session was for community support, volunteers and information on the grant process. Any county funding decisions would require a formal staff recommendation or a future agenda item.
