Commission approves accessory-building permit for Worthing-area property

Tony Brown of County Planning and Zoning said the lot is about 11.3 acres and currently contains multiple accessory structures, including ones the staff described as approximately 5,000 and 1,800 square feet. Because the parcel’s cumulative accessory-building area would exceed Lincoln County’s 1,500-square-foot limit, the applicant applied for a conditional-use permit. Brown said staff posted the property, notified neighbors within 500 feet and received no opposition prior to the meeting, and staff recommended approval with six standard conditions used for oversized accessory buildings in agricultural areas.
Applicant Patrick Duffy said he owns the parcel at 28054 472nd Street and wants a 30-by-40 building for personal use, including finished heated space and a garage/workshop; he described existing uses of other structures on the parcel (horse/animal access and cold storage). Commissioners moved, seconded and approved the permit; the roll call recorded yes votes from multiple commissioners and the chair declared the motion passed.
The permit carries the standard conditions noted in the staff report — limiting use to personal storage and noncommercial activity unless a separate home-occupation permit is sought and approved — and will be subject to routine county compliance checks.
