Sherry, the Lincoln County auditor, asked the commission to establish the committee based on a proposed composition: one non-lawyer/non-law-enforcement public member, two county commissioners and two practicing attorneys. Commissioner Otten moved to form the advisory body; the motion was seconded and passed on roll call with all present voting yes.
Commissioners discussed recruitment methods. Sherry recommended advertising online, accepting letters of interest by mail or email to the commission office, and reserving the option to send letters to firms if there is insufficient public response. The commission agreed to start with online advertisement and to revisit additional outreach if needed.
The commission did not set a firm application deadline during the meeting; commissioners said they would try the online approach for a couple of weeks and consider additional outreach if qualified applicants do not appear.
