Holiday concerts, quilt show and community bands: dates and ticketing

Several local arts groups used the broadcast to list event dates, ticketing and participation information for upcoming holiday and seasonal programs.

Jackson Symphony — Holiday Pops: Sherry Freeman and symphony representatives described "Lights, Camera, Christmas," the Holiday Pops concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 (Carl Perkins Civic Center). Choirs scheduled include the Jackson Symphony youth choir, University of Tennessee at Martin and Bethel University. Tickets and table reservations are available at thejacksonsymphony.org or by calling 427-6440; sponsors named on-air included Jackson Clinic, Coca-Cola of Jackson, Cadence Bank and Jackson Energy Authority.

Parker's Crossroads Red, White and Blue Quilt Show: Aliyah Koontz and Janet Newton said the free, public quilt show will run Saturday, Nov. 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the City Park building near Exit 108 off I-40, with about 40–50 quilts on display, historical sewing-machine demonstrations, and opportunities to sew a seam for a future quilt. The Jackson Quilt Guild said it meets monthly and welcomes new members.

Community bands and swing orchestra: George Gooch and David Kyle described a free concert Monday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. in Union University’s Jim Savage Chapel featuring Symphonic Winds under new conductor Steven Barnett followed by the Swing Orchestra in a program honoring blues traditions and vocal features. Admission is free and open to the public.

Organizers encouraged early ticket purchases where applicable and provided phone numbers and web links for reservations and additional information.
