Chief Hunt said those grants will allow targeted overtime and equipment purchases to address problem areas.
Process change: Chief Hunt described a court/cloud reporting tool being implemented with the judge’s office that should let officers complete parts of DUI processing remotely from mobile devices rather than spending multiple hours at hospital and sheriff’s offices. He said the change could reduce the time to process a DUI case from about four hours to roughly one and a half hours, allowing officers to return to patrol sooner.
Council response and follow-up: Councilmembers asked whether grants had been finalized and who the point of contact would be with the judge’s office; staff said some grant paperwork remains pending and they will confirm details. No vote or appropriation was made at the meeting.
