At its Dec. 29 meeting, the Yankton County Commission approved assigning revenue from CPR classes (reported by staff as $3,330) to the ambulance department to pay for CPR training supplies, mannequins and related materials.
County staff explained the revenue is already in county accounts and assigning it to the ambulance budget ensures those dollars are available for CPR-related purchases rather than absorbed into general cash. Commissioner Ryan moved approval; Wanda seconded, and the motion carried.
The commission also approved a $30,000 cash transfer to the emergency management fund, which staff said does not generate sufficient local revenue to cover routine cash needs and is affected by cuts to LEMPG reimbursements. Commissioner Dan moved the transfer and Wanda seconded; the motion carried by voice vote.
Commissioners noted the emergency management fund’s revenue shortfall and asked staff to continue monitoring reimbursements and cash flow for that department.
