Shelby County urges clerk to cooperate with auditors as first-time audit continues

Commissioner David C. Bradford Jr. and others said the board needs the audit completed this cycle to avoid financial instability and noted county staff were coordinating with the clerk's office. The commission voted to adopt a resolution asking the clerk to comply with lawful requests for reports and data to prevent further financial harm; the motion passed (12 ayes, 1 abstain).
Auditors and administration representatives said they will continue to work through outstanding items in the coming days and to provide the board updates; commissioners warned they may call a special meeting if necessary to resolve remaining barriers before year-end.
