Walker County Commissioners Court approved several procurement items Dec. 29, including a new 2026 Toyota RAV4 and a used Freightliner truck, and approved communications devices on the county FirstNet plan.
On agenda item 11, the court approved purchase of a 2026 Toyota RAV4 from Salesman Toyota for $34,003.81. A county presenter noted that the purchase "does not involve any Walker County funds," explaining it is part of a prior appropriation set aside for routine vehicle replacement.
Separately, the court approved purchase of a 2014 Freightliner M2 from Lone Star Truck Group using budgeted precinct funds. Commissioners indicated the vehicle was budgeted for and that procurement paperwork had been provided to staff.
The court considered purchase of Franklin A70 devices and FirstNet data service. The devices were discussed and approval was deferred until Sergeant Adams arrived to provide input on device needs; when the item returned to the agenda the court approved the device/service arrangement, which staff described as a FirstNet unlimited data service through AT&T with $0 monthly device cost and $30/month service per device.
Items voted on during the meeting were carried by voice/hand raise; where no dollar amount or vendor price was recorded in the record, the court instructed staff to finalize procurement paperwork and return any missing documentation to the court clerk.
