The Blount County Beer Board elected Commissioner Reagan to serve as chair for the Oct. 23 meeting after the regular chair and vice chair were absent.
The floor was opened for nominations and, after a second, nominations were closed and members voted in favor of Commissioner Reagan serving as chair for the evening. The clerk recorded a quorum of five members present and four absent.
The board then moved, by motion of Commissioner King and second by Commissioner Martin, to adopt the meeting agenda; the motion passed with five yes votes. Later, Commissioner McMahon moved to approve the Sept. 18, 2025 meeting minutes with a second from Commissioner King; that motion also passed with five yes votes.
These procedural actions allowed the board to proceed to new business, including a public hearing and subsequent vote on a beer permit application for Route 129 Smokehouse.
