The speaker said project manager Howard Wood arrived around midnight and crews worked into the early morning to protect memorabilia, furniture and wall materials. "They did the holes in the walls. They are identifying every place that had insulation. They're cutting those walls at 24 inches, removing that insulation, making sure everything is drying out," the commenter said. The comment described daily project reports provided by the contractor with photos and area maps.
The commenter said HG Fire Systems had donated the pipe and labor to replace the blown riser and that the fire marshal set a seven-day requirement to replace the riser and inspect the system, which could otherwise require building evacuation or shutdown if not addressed. The commenter said scheduling confusion earlier in October had delayed valve repair and that county maintenance staff (Larry Whitener) had been notified and would coordinate with contractors.
The public comment did not include a formal request for county funding; the commenter asked to keep the court informed of progress and praised the work of the restoration contractor and volunteer support.
Commissioners acknowledged the update and indicated county staff would follow up on scheduling and coordination for the remaining exterior valve work.
