Willacy County's commissioners approved a construction change order related to foundation revisions for the Williamson County Heritage & Wellness Center (a CDBG/TDHCA-funded project) during the Nov. 13 meeting.
Project representatives said metal-shop delegated-design submittals originally removed several middle columns; after review the columns needed to be restored, increasing foundation scope and cost. The change order added 14 calendar days and increased construction costs but remained within the original overall grant budget. Staff reported the revised project construction cost is $4,057,790.16 and that approximately $114,419.84 remains available in construction funds.
County and project staff confirmed the work and contingency remain covered by the grant program and that the change order must be finalized before the contractor proceeds with affected foundation work. Commissioners approved the change order by voice vote.
Next steps: contractor to proceed with revised foundation work; project staff will continue to monitor budget and report on any additional change-order requests.
