Chambers County commissioners on Oct. 28 formalized a reinvestment zone for a proposed industrial project after a brief public hearing that drew no comments.
County staff said the applicant, TDSCP 5300 East McKinney LLC, has proposed a 420,000-square-foot third-party logistics facility that the staff said would create at least 20 jobs. The reinvestment zone is a required procedural step to advance a tax-abatement agreement the applicant obtained approval for earlier in the month.
After opening the hearing and describing the project elements, staff asked for public input; hearing none, the board closed the public hearing and voted to adopt the order that defines the zone boundaries. Staff said the order is necessary to move forward with the tax-abatement process; commissioners approved the order by motion.
