County to seek bids for Administration Building elevator replacement or repair

County staff said the Otis quote would return the elevator to working condition without replacing the cab (an optional cab overhaul was priced separately). Several supervisors recommended soliciting competitive proposals before authorizing a large repair to ensure value and to determine whether a full replacement might be more cost-effective over the long term. The board approved issuing an RFP that requests both repair and replacement pricing and allows the county to meet with firms to clarify scope before awarding a contract.
Procurement will proceed with the two-option RFP; staff will return with vendor proposals and a recommendation for either repair or replacement based on cost, timeline and lifecycle considerations.
