The King George County Board of Supervisors voted to appoint Tutti Moncure to an unexpired seat on the county Planning Commission following public comment in which Moncure said the commission needs broader representation.
Moncure, who identified herself as a resident of the James Madison District, told supervisors she has attended planning meetings, studied land‑use issues and wants to bring the perspective of families, renters and small business owners to the advisory body. "We deserve an advisory voice to our Board, where all citizens have a seat at the table," she said during public comment.
A supervisor formally nominated Moncure and the Board approved the nomination by roll call. No member of the public spoke in opposition during the appointment discussion. Moncure said afterwards she would obtain any necessary certifications required to serve.
The planning commission appointment fills the unexpired term of Kevin Myers (term expiration noted in staff materials). The Board did not attach conditions to the appointment. The county clerk will post the commission roster and term information in the public meeting packet for the next meeting.
The Board moved on to the consent agenda and other items after recording the appointment.
