Board recommends BZA appointment, fills planning commission seats and approves committee reassignments

At the Nov. 6 meeting, the Board of Supervisors moved and approved candidate recommendations and reappointments for several citizen and outside-agency positions.
The board voted to recommend Hunter McKinney to the circuit court for appointment to the Board of Zoning Appeals. Applicant Mr. Bezdon, present virtually, introduced himself and described prior planning commission experience in Hanover County. The board also appointed Ken Copeland to the Planning Commission (District 1) and reappointed Brad Fuller for District 4.
Separately, the board addressed reappointments and vacancies for outside-agency seats with terms that expired Dec. 31, 2025. The board made several committee and liaison reassignments, discussed filling Social Services and Crossroads seats, and asked staff to reach out to interested applicants when terms open.
Next steps: The board will submit the recommendation for the BZA vacancy to the circuit court and staff will coordinate outreach for additional committee vacancies.
