Commissioners authorize HVAC repair at outdoor range trailer, contingent on lawful funding source

Deputy or staff stated OSBM might allow a scope rewrite but commissioners asked the county manager and sheriff to verify legality before approving.
Commissioner Richardson proposed a motion to approve the repair but contingent on finding funds within the sheriff's office budget or other lawful internal sources; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Commissioners asked staff to verify whether the OSBM scope of work could legally be rewritten and to return with documentation if the county manager or sheriff identifies an eligible funding source. The engineering director said he would recommend the county fund the project outright if OSBM could not authorize a scope change.
Quote: "Otherwise, if we don't pull this from OSBM, I'm gonna recommend that the county fund this project and move forward with it," Caleb Tilly said.
Practical effect: The repair may proceed once staff confirms an appropriate funding source that complies with grant conditions or the sheriff's office identifies available budget authority.
