Board recognizes Belmont students, long‑service employees and Stop DWI awardees

At the Dec. 10 meeting the Allegany County Board of Legislators paused routine business to recognize students, long‑service employees and law‑enforcement award recipients.
Chef CJ Wright and students from the Belmont Career and Technical Education program served cookies and described internship opportunities with the CTE center. Wright thanked the board for hosting the students and encouraged continued community collaboration.
The board also recognized long‑service employees: Jack Harris (35 years), Randy Green and Matthew Tuttle (30 years each) for their long-term county service in the Department of Public Works and related roles.
Probation staff presented Stop DWI program awards. Jessica McKnight and Director of Probation Scott Grant described program improvements since Probation inherited the Stop DWI work, including high-visibility engagement and victim-impact panels. A Top Cop award went to Alfred Police Officer Alex Roselle, who was recognized for 21 DWI arrests in 2024, and an Outstanding Service Award was presented to a group of Genesee Valley School staff and volunteers who support mock crash events and victim-impact panels.
Chief Ann Skiver (Alford Police Department) thanked program partners and described her personal connection to the issue, emphasizing enforcement’s role in preventing fatal crashes.
These recognitions were presented as part of the meeting’s "privilege of the floor" segment and do not represent policy actions, but the board took photographs and acknowledged community partnerships.
