The Marquette County Planning and Zoning Committee on Nov. 6 held public hearings on two rezoning requests and recommended approval for one.
At the hearing for David Janssen’s application to rezone land at W1082 Fish Ave, Jean (zoning staff) explained the applicant wants to separate his home and buildings from adjoining acreage for estate and trust planning and that the request requires a minimum 4-acre parcel to encompass existing buildings. Jean said the town had approved the application and the file was properly noticed. Tom Riley, township supervisor, spoke in support: "We fully support David and his rezoning request."
A motion to approve the Janssen rezone was made and seconded and the committee approved the application by voice vote; the item will be forwarded to the full county board. The transcript shows the committee approved the motion but does not include a roll-call tally.
The committee also heard Thomas Harvey’s request to rezone about 4.05 acres to Ag3 and about 35.44 acres to a farmland preservation overlay for property described in Section 29, Township 14 North Range 9 East, Town of Moundville. Jean said the town approved the application and the matter had been properly noticed. Member (S2) moved to approve the Harvey rezone; the transcript records the motion and a comment of thanks but does not record the committee's final vote on that motion in the provided text.
Both matters will proceed according to the county's standard process for forwarding recommendations to the county board.
