Tompkins County Reappoints Ken Hodges to Air Service Board; FAA delays airport master plan

The Tompkins County Facilities & Infrastructure Committee on Dec. 4 approved the 2026 reappointment of Ken Hodges as an at-large representative to the Air Service Board, with a term running through Dec. 31, 2028.
Norma and airport staff also updated the committee on airport planning. Roxanne reported the Federal Aviation Administration has temporarily put the airport master plan "on hold" because the FAA lacks a planner to approve submitted working papers. Roxanne said other elements of the master plan—work on electrification and utility planning—will continue while the FAA review is pending.
Roxanne and other airport staff described ongoing outreach to Cornell University and marketing efforts. She said the third seasonal flight to Washington performed well during its trial and is expected to return in March. "It was successful," Roxanne said, adding that talks with carriers and Cornell are continuing about restoring or expanding westbound service, including Chicago.
The committee moved Hodges’s reappointment without objection. Airport staff said they will report back when the FAA resumes work on the master-plan paperwork and will continue carrier and campus outreach in the meantime.
The resolution to reappoint Hodges will be forwarded to the full legislature as part of the committee’s consent items.
