Hudson County adopts bidder prequalification rules for courthouse heating and cooling project

The hearing was held pursuant to NJSA 48:11-25 and was advertised with a notice fixing the hearing for Oct. 23 at 4:30 p.m. in the Board of Commissioners’ chambers. Staff described the project and explained that the courthouse is listed in the New Jersey Register of Historic Places; work must conform to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties (1995 revision).
No members of the public spoke on the proposed prequalification regulations. The board moved to close the hearing and proceeded to final adoption. Chairperson Romano and multiple commissioners recorded affirmative responses and the chairman stated, “This has been adopted.” The board’s notice said construction bids will be requested from prequalified contractors after prequalification occurs.
Next steps: County staff will implement the prequalification questionnaire and proceed to invite bids from prequalified contractors as permitted under the adopted regulations. The resolution cites NJSA 48:11-25 as the statutory authority for the hearing and rulemaking step.
