County adopts solid-waste and traffic-calming ordinances; other traffic/parking items introduced

Hudson County commissioners adopted an amendment to the county solid waste management plan to designate Advanced Enterprises Recycling Inc. (AER) for specified waste streams and adopted a traffic-calming ordinance covering Bergen Turnpike and JFK Boulevard East; other parking and traffic ordinances were introduced for future hearing.
Hudson County commissioners voted to adopt two ordinances after public hearings where there were no speakers.
The first ordinance amended the Hudson County District solid waste management plan to designate Advanced Enterprises Recycling, Inc. (AER) as the county-designated facility for solid waste types listed in the ordinance (transcript lists types 10, 13, 13c, 23, 25 and 27). The ordinance also incorporated a new solid waste disposal services agreement between the Hudson County Improvement Authority and AER and directed the specified waste types to AER facilities pursuant to regulatory flow control. The clerk said the ordinance had been introduced on Oct. 23 and advertised as required; the hearing was closed with no public speakers and the ordinance was adopted.
The commission also adopted an ordinance amending chapter 200, article 27, to establish traffic calming devices on Bergen Turnpike in the City of Union City and on John F. Kennedy Boulevard East in Guttenberg. That ordinance, too, was heard on the record (introduced Oct. 23), hearing closed with no public speakers and then adopted by the commission.
Separately, the board introduced an ordinance to establish a restricted parking space on Willow Avenue in Hoboken for James B. Rooney and other traffic-calming introduction items (Secaucus County Avenue); those items were introduced for future hearings.
Next steps: adopted ordinances take effect per the county’s ordinance schedule; introduced parking and traffic-calming items will proceed to their advertised public hearings.
