The Washington County Board of Supervisors elected Robert Henke as the board’s chairman for 2026 during its organizational meeting and immediately administered the oath of office.
Supervisor Baker formally nominated Henke for chair, and the nomination was seconded by Supervisor Fedler and other members; the board closed nominations and approved the selection by voice vote. Judge Pritzker administered the oath; Henke recited, "That I will support the Constitution of the United States," before taking his seat.
After the chair’s selection, the board moved through a slate of organizational resolutions. The board approved Resolution 1 to reappoint the county attorney; Resolution 2 to reappoint the Clerk of the Board; and Resolution 3 to set the bond for the chair and vice chair. Resolution 4 reappointed the county administrator. Supervisor Skelly moved Resolution 5 to reappoint Michael McKeur as public defender, which the board carried.
Other approved actions included Resolution 6 to appoint a budget officer; Resolution 7 to appoint the county auditor and deputy auditor; and Resolution 8 to designate the county depository. Resolution 9 authorized payment to the soil and water conservation district; Resolution 10 appropriated funds for the Washington County Extension Service. Resolution 11 authorized the official desk to approve New York State real property tax corrections of errors less than $1,500.
The board also reaffirmed its rules for 2026 under Resolution 12 and adopted an amendment to specify which holidays will trigger relocation or rescheduling of meetings, aligning that procedure with existing handbook conventions. Finally, Resolution 13 reappointed David K. O'Brien to the Lake Champlain–Lake George Regional Planning Board for a term commencing 01/01/2026 and expiring 12/31/2028.
Administrative items noted in members’ packets included an emergency contact form for supervisors; the board appointed Supervisor O'Brien as sergeant at arms and Miss Clary as chaplain, and committee assignment cards were distributed.
The votes on the listed resolutions were recorded by voice as carried; where motions and seconders were stated on the record, those names were noted in the meeting minutes. The board adjourned after supervisors’ comments.
