Monmouth County officials used a county-produced program to preview plans for the nation's 250th anniversary, emphasizing local Revolutionary War history and community events ahead of 07/04/2026.

Monmouth County Clerk Christine Hanlon, co-chair of the county's Monmouth 250 committee, told viewers the anniversary is a chance for "every community, every organization, every resident" to take part and said the county is focused on engaging young people in the celebrations. "We are so focused on engaging our young people in the celebration," Hanlon said.

The program visited Monmouth Park Racetrack to illustrate the county's historical ties to the Revolution and to local heritage economies. Tom Arnone, Monmouth County Commissioner Director, described the Battle of Monmouth as “pivotal in the American Revolution” and noted the county's transition from wartime turmoil to agriculture, commerce and industry.

The segment framed Monmouth County as both historically significant and a current destination: hosts pointed to parks, shoreline, farmland and a population “over 600,000 residents” while arguing county venues support tourism and preservation of open space tied to horse racing.

County organizers noted youth involvement: several interns and young participants spoke about excitement for town-level events during the semi-quincentennial, saying the anniversary offers a way for residents to learn local history and take part in civic celebrations.

The county closed the segment by urging viewers to watch for planning updates in the months ahead. "February is coming, and Monmouth County will be ready," Arnone said.
