Washington County commissioners opened and recorded bids for fuel, asphalt mixes and aggregate materials. Staff read multiple vendor submissions for fuel (including Keels Brothers Oil Company, Heritage Petroleum, Riley Oil Company, Petroleum Traders Corporation and Premier Energy) and reported quoted base prices such as Heritage Petroleum diesel $2.42 per gallon and unleaded gasoline $2.09 per gallon (Heritage) and Riley Oil unleaded $2.049 including tax. Staff emphasized that taxes and delivery terms vary by bidder.
A sequence of aggregate and HMA bids followed from firms including Mack Construction, IMI Aggregates (Brownstown Quarry), Robertson Crushed Stone, Davis Crushed Stone & Lime, Cave Quarries Inc., Temple & Temple, E and B Paving, Flynn Brothers and Rogers Group Inc. Bidders provided per-ton pricing for base, intermediate and surface mixes and for several stone sizes; staff discussed ‘‘virgin materials’’ pricing versus prices with a 10% wrap and clarified FOB versus "furnished and applied" pricing with contractors.
Staff also noted the availability of a binder containing specifications for shield corrugated culverts and recommended it be made available for public review. Following the bid readings, a motion was made and the chair announced "motion carried," with no further detail recorded about awards or contract awards during the meeting.
Next steps: bids will remain in the official record and staff will follow procurement procedures for evaluation and award; no contract awards were announced at this session.
