Members of Fayette County approved a contract with Purdue Extension that county officials said will support local 4‑H programming and part of the county extension director position.
Stephanie McCurdy, who introduced the agreement, said the contract "covers our full time 4 h educator and then my position" and confirmed the contract amount is "$53,500." She told the board that about 150 young people are already signed up for 4‑H and described ongoing activities including a pesticide applicator renewal program and partnerships with the Fayette County Food Council.
Board members asked for clarification about staffing and funding. McCurdy said the county office manager position is a separate county contract and that the Purdue payment covers roughly one third of the educator/director positions’ cost. Tracy moved to approve the contract; David seconded the motion and the board approved it by voice vote.
McCurdy asked for a signed copy for county records; staff confirmed a signed copy would be provided.
