Warrick County commissioners approve multiple contracts, ratifications and project draws

At their December meeting, Warrick County commissioners approved a slate of procurement and contract actions covering facility repairs, construction draws and professional services.

Key approvals included ratification of an emergency furnace replacement at the highway department; authorization of electrical receptacles at the county landfill to power newly installed methane monitors; acceptance of two small donations for animal-control work totaling $2,240; and approval of contract services with Morley & Associates to begin civil engineering and design work for an animal-control facility addition.

Commissioners also approved a $5,850 contract with Environmental Management Consultants to install methane-monitoring hardware and begin delineation work at the county’s solid-waste site, and they authorized security-center pay draw #32 totaling $1,412,771.27 (Garmon Construction $1,334,402; QAW architectural $78,000; county treasurer $369.27).

Procurement actions for the new security center included approval of fitness equipment purchased through a cooperative contract (core fitness equipment, $55,009.58) and awarding a refueling-center installation to the low bidder, Synergy ($23,466.65). Commissioners also approved the county’s bituminous (asphalt) contract renewal for 2026 per staff recommendation.

The board agreed by motion to proceed with construction design for the animal-control renovations after discussing turning-radius and utility conflicts; staff said civil engineers will perform turning studies during design to verify equipment access. For Linville EMS station work, commissioners authorized using remaining contingency funds toward a recommended 20 kW generator and accepted a partner organization’s offer to cover the remaining balance if approved.
