Board accepts resignation, opens applications and agrees to probe long-absent planning commission member

The board moved to accept a member's resignation and to open the vacancy to applicants, and it discussed next steps regarding a planning commission member who has missed several meetings.

Speaker 2 moved that the board accept the resignation and allow the person to reapply in January; Speaker 3 seconded. Speakers agreed to look up the code, bring the matter to the commissioners on Wednesday, and to send a letter as appropriate.

Next steps: staff and board members will review the planning commission ordinance language and follow up with a formal letter or other action consistent with the ordinance. The board will consider applications for the recently vacated seat and said the resigning member remains eligible to reapply.
