EMS reports staffing improvements, wins $40,000 MIH grant and secures three-year software contract

Starke County EMS updated commissioners on operations and finances and received formal approval to enter a three-year contract for a clinical dosing and reference app.
In the monthly report EMS staff noted that October staffing met minimum levels 92 percent of the time (up from 87 percent the prior month), with four ambulances in service at intervals and 51 transfers out of 276 calls. The department noted that a new ambulance is scheduled for delivery in January and that a previously planned remount is now scheduled for February.
On grants, staff said the IDHS MIH (Mobile Integrated Health) grant was approved for $40,000 while a separate SIH Subaru grant request for $15,000 was denied. Northern Indiana Community Foundation told EMS its request for $50,000 will be decided late December or early January.
The board discussed a three-year subscription for a dosing/reference app and voted to approve the multiyear contract. Commissioners recorded the three-year payment schedule during discussion: "$5,056.01" for year one, $5,207.69 for year two and $5,363.92 for year three. A motion to allow the department to sign the three-year contract was made and approved by voice vote.
What's next: EMS will continue training and equipment delivery scheduling; grant reimbursements and foundation responses are pending and the three‑year subscription will be placed into the department budget.
