County staff and commissioners reviewed bids and logistics for replacing courthouse flooring in the courthouse and discussed the cost of moving furniture and equipment during installation.
Staff described the scope that could include corridors, the commissioners' room and adjoining offices and said movers estimated about $2,000 per day for a crew to handle relocation tasks. One presenter said moving firms quoted roughly $90 per man per hour with a two-hour minimum and that using movers on multiple days could raise the total moving cost. The board also reviewed the flooring bid components and how alternates (additional rooms) could increase the total price. A speaker estimated the base bid figure and suggested total project cost could increase when adding alternates and moving fees.
Commissioners asked staff to obtain revised, room-specific quotes and to coordinate moving logistics so that critical functions (computers, phones, court operations) remain available. Staff will provide updated estimates and a recommended schedule to minimize disruption to court business and present the revised package to the council at the next meeting.
