Jennings County commissioners approved a $108,000 contract to pave the entrance and lot at the county recycling center and to add concrete pads beneath dumpster locations.
Tom (speaker 1) presented a quote from contractor Dave O'Mear and told the board the quote covers paving from the highway back through the lot and concrete pads at the dumpster locations. He said the contractor indicated a $10,000 donation that reduces the county’s outlay.
Unidentified Speaker 4 moved to approve the $108,000 expenditure; the motion was seconded and commissioners approved the measure unanimously. Tom said he would sign the paperwork and that staff (including Paul) would be notified to proceed.
Commissioners discussed logistics for keeping the recycling center operating during the work, weighing temporary relocation of service to the fairgrounds for a short period against staged scheduling. Concerns were raised that closing multiple weekdays could prompt increased illegal dumping along county roads and that Saturdays are the busiest day, so any closure should avoid that peak.
The board did not identify a specific funding source on the record beyond referencing the county recycling fund; meeting speakers said the money would come from the recycling fund but did not provide a detailed budget breakdown during the discussion.
