DeKalb County plan commission approves routine business, renews attorney contract and schedules comprehensive plan presentation

Early in the meeting commissioners approved the Nov. 19 minutes and the November claims by voice vote. The commission then considered the annual attorney fee agreement and voted to renew Andrew Cruz as attorney for the Planning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals for 2026. Cruz told the commission he would continue representing the bodies if retained.
Staff also reviewed scheduling for the comprehensive plan rewrite. Staff proposed posting the public draft on the county website by Jan. 12 and presenting the plan to the Plan Commission in a mid‑January meeting with a 5:30 p.m. presentation followed by an open‑house‑style public comment period; staff referenced both Jan. 20 and Jan. 21 timing during discussion and asked commissioners to confirm availability. Staff outlined a public comment window through Feb. 18 with adoption by the Plan Commission targeted for Feb. 18 and a subsequent presentation to the county commissioners on March 16.
No formal votes were recorded on the comprehensive plan schedule during the meeting; staff said they would notify the commission and advertise the dates once confirmed.
