Kingsford Heights took several fiscal and contract actions at its Dec. 29 meeting.

Fire protection: The council voted to approve the fire‑department contract for 2026 at $40,228.65. The motion was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote.

Utility tracker factor: Utilities staff reported an adjustment in the purchase‑power cost. Council adopted a new tracker factor that staff said will increase customer bills by about 1.6692¢ per kilowatt-hour beginning on January billings. The change reflects Impa-calculated purchase-power-cost adjustments and will be implemented on bills scheduled after the January billing cycle.

Town attorney contract: Council voted to renew the town attorney's monthly retainer at $2,200 per month (noted as $26,400 per year). The motion to accept the 2026 legal-services contract carried on a recorded voice vote.

These actions were adopted in the same meeting cycle. Staff were directed to implement the tracker factor in utility billing and to circulate contract documents as needed for recordkeeping.
