The board called the question, held a roll-call vote and the motion carried.
In the finance report, a county official said the general fund balance stands just over $13 million, down from more than $24 million previously, and warned the county faces a challenging budget year; department heads were asked to scrutinize their budgets ahead of hearings expected within the next month.
Chair also reported a construction estimate from Wakefield Architects to replace the courthouse elevator of $702,000 and noted ongoing window replacement work on the county building. The board approved routine low-bid awards for road work and other consent items earlier in the meeting.
Next steps: staff will proceed with the consultant engagement to produce HVAC specifications and prepare for subsequent bidding; budget hearings will be scheduled and department heads asked to prepare for possible constraints.
