Commissioners approve radio for women's center, courtroom audio upgrades and routine administrative items

"Once we went over to the women's center...you just can't get out on your radio," the sheriff said, explaining the operational need.
Courtroom audio systems: IT Director Michael King presented BIS Digital quotes to replace aging audio equipment in the superior and circuit courtrooms; each courtroom system was quoted at $14,769.69 to include microphones, mixer, recorder, cabling and installation. Commissioners moved and approved purchasing the equipment to ensure clean recorded records for court proceedings.
Other approvals: the recorder's office was granted permission to close for a day of staff training; the commission approved closing the courthouse from noon to 2 p.m. on Dec. 17 for a holiday luncheon; and commissioners approved claims and payroll. A schedule was set to meet with union representatives for highway‑department negotiations on Dec. 22 at 10 a.m.
Votes: motions on the purchases and administrative items were adopted by voice vote with commissioners recording the ayes (3 ayes when votes were recorded). The meeting concluded after approval of claims and payroll and a motion to adjourn.
Next steps: IT will process purchase orders for BIS Digital installations and the sheriff will arrange radio installation; staff will coordinate training and holiday schedules and prepare for the Dec. 22 union negotiation session.
