Health department updates wellness program and secures approval for HFI partner contracts

The health department increased wellness incentive thresholds and commissioners approved Health First Indiana (HFI) partner contracts to distribute state funds to six partners, subject to appropriation.
Scott Wagner of the Whitley County Health Department returned to the commission with two items that had been tabled at the prior meeting: an update to the employee wellness program and a set of Health First Indiana (HFI) funding contracts.
Wagner said the revised wellness incentives increase employee and spouse thresholds from the prior 10%/5% to 15%/10%, respectively, and asked the commission to forward the updated program to council. He said the program details otherwise remain unchanged and framed the change as an encouragement for employees to pursue healthier behaviors in light of county health insurance costs.
Wagner also presented six partner agreements to receive HFI funding (state funds). He explained partners must report performance metrics (some monthly, some quarterly or biannually). The commission voted to approve the HFI contracts as presented; Wagner noted the total HFI allocation for the year had increased slightly and that checks to partners are contingent on January appropriations.
The commissioners approved both items by voice vote.
