In a substantial update, the 911 director (Speaker 2) explained that a longstanding telecom charge had been improperly billed and that the county will receive a refund check for $9,501.31; he said the county will save roughly $7,601.04 annually going forward. He also outlined the federal push to next-generation 911 (NG911), which will require major upgrades to phone systems, CAD and other dispatch tools and could carry six-figure costs.
The highway department received additional funding to repair and temporarily rebuild a plow truck this year to keep operations running while replacement equipment is ordered. Council members approved the requested transfers by voice votes where motions and seconds were recorded.
