Noble County drainage board approves first phase reconstruction estimates totaling $169,978

Speaker 3 (Staff member) told the Noble County Drainage Board on Nov. 24 that the first phase of an August reconstruction project will run from the Norfolk Southern railroad upstream to the south side of Drake Road and continue next year toward the Road 3 bypass. Speaker 3 recommended Drainage & Excavating (estimate in transcript: $33,772), Hixson sand and gravel to supply piping at $96,206.34 and Pulver Asphalt Incorporated for stone at $40,000, for a combined estimated first-phase cost of $169,978.34.

"When you feel comfortable, we'll need a rep by, functions and an approval for this so that we can move ahead with the contracts for this project," Speaker 3 said, asking the board for authorization to proceed. Speaker 2 moved to approve the estimates and Speaker 4 seconded; the board adopted the motion by voice vote.

The board also reviewed multiple tile and reconstruction projects across the county, including a Baker 33330 project (250 feet of 12-inch dual-wall pipe) on the Jasper property, several fall and winter tile jobs (Kretzinger, Hafferty, Gloucester system) and ongoing work awarded to contractors such as Jackson Excavating, Seiber Brothers and Mike Haines. Speaker 3 noted that supplies for several projects (tile and stone) are on site and that contractors were preparing to begin work as conditions allow.

The board’s action authorizes staff to prepare contracts and move forward with procurement and construction scheduling for the approved phase. No roll-call vote or individual vote tallies were recorded in the transcript; the approval was taken by voice vote.
