Public Works presented comparative pricing for metal and concrete pipe to support the Ammons Road drainage project and to maintain inventory. Metal-only stock for the project was quoted at about $24,176.94, while comparable concrete quantities for that footage were quoted at approximately $41,529.20 when matching the metal footage plus stock.
Commissioners discussed durability, cross-drain requirements, and future paving plans. Staff recommended concrete for cross drains (required for cross drains on that road) and metal for side drains and driveways to balance cost and longevity. One commissioner noted that concrete cross drains will be retained if the road is paved later, reducing waste.
Following discussion, a motion to authorize the purchase (concrete for cross drains, metal for remaining stock) was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff will sign the order and proceed with procurement.
