The Ware County Board of Commissioners voted Oct. 27 to award the CDBG‑funded street drainage contract for Dusty Lane and Katy Lane to Thrift Brothers LLC, which was reported as the lowest responsive bidder.
County staff told the commission the Georgia Department of Community Affairs had allocated $542,520 in construction funding for the street‑drainage project. Bids opened Oct. 21; the three bids read into the record were from Thrift Brothers LLC, Scruggs Company, and East Coast Asphalt LLC. Staff recommended awarding the contract to Thrift Brothers LLC as the lowest bidder.
At the meeting staff presented the bid tabulation and recommended award; a motion to award was made, seconded and approved on the record. For the record the chair abstained from both participation in the conversation and the vote. Staff recorded the bid amount and the award recommendation in the meeting materials.
What happens next: County staff will execute the contract with the low bidder, subject to standard procurement and contract‑execution steps. The project is funded in part by CDBG dollars and will require the county to meet the local match and program reporting obligations with Georgia DCA.
