Alicia Munsville presented the proclamation, which defined domestic violence as abuse among family members, ex-spouses, cohabitants and former dating partners and urged community support for survivors. The proclamation cited a Georgia Bureau of Investigation 2025 report and stated that the state logged "over 42,000 cases of family violence reported across the state in 2024" and that incidents rose about 12% from 2023 to 2024.
The proclamation also noted that nearly one-third of reported family violence incidents were committed in the presence of a child, according to the cited GBI report, and listed types of calls to which the Haralson County Sheriff's Office responded in September, including simple battery, family violence, cruelty to children, violation of family violence orders and domestic disputes.
The proclamation was signed by Brian L. Walker, chairman and CEO (as stated in the document), and attested by Allison Palmer, county clerk. Commissioners thanked presenters and acknowledged community partners working on prevention and survivor support.
